Everyone knows that krill oil contains astaxanthin, which is a powerful natural antioxidant that is 550 times stronger than vitamin E and 10 times stronger than β-carotene. Natural astaxanthin exists in free astaxanthin and esterified astaxanthin, and esterified astaxanthin is more stable in the body. Most of the astaxanthin in krill oil is esterified astaxanthin. It can clear free radicals in the body, combine with phospholipids to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and cell membrane of the human body, and have the functions of anti-oxidation, anti-aging, enhancing immunity, improving cognitive impairment and strengthening heart function.
In the study, 8 kinds of substances with antioxidant capacity were tested for ORAC index. It was found that the antioxidant capacity of krill oil was much higher than that of other substances. Its ORAC index was 47.3 times that of fish oil, 34.4 times that of coenzyme Q10, and the 6.5 times that of red pigment and 300 times that of vitamin E.
This is not only because krill oil contains natural astaxanthin, which has been recognized as the strongest antioxidant capacity so far, but also interacts with phospholipid omega-3 fatty acids to produce a multiplier effect. Therefore, krill oil is a unique natural antioxidant product.
